About the role
A CT radiographer must turn the clinical question into an appropriate protocol while managing radiation and contrast risk. The interview tests acquisition choices, artefact correction, emergency readiness and clear escalation when a patient or request is unsafe.
How to prepare
- Review protocol selection, scan phases and reconstruction choices for common CT examinations.
- Practise explaining contrast screening, cannula checks and the response to an acute reaction.
- Prepare examples of reducing dose for different patient sizes and clinical questions.
- Think through how you identify and correct motion, metal and acquisition artefacts.
- Check the official licensing body for current registration and practising requirements.
Common mistakes
- Using one routine protocol without addressing the clinical question or patient factors.
- Discussing contrast administration without screening, monitoring or an emergency response.
- Repeating an artefact-degraded series before considering correction and added dose.
