About the role
This interview examines how you turn consumer evidence into better FMCG decisions. The panel wants more than research technique: it will assess how you frame ambiguous questions, judge evidence quality, uncover the reasons behind behaviour and influence commercial teams without overstating certainty.
How to prepare
- Prepare a research case that links the original business question to a decision and outcome.
- Review when to use qualitative, quantitative, observational and existing data sources.
- Choose an example where different sources conflicted and explain how you resolved them.
- Be ready to challenge a flawed sample, leading question or unsupported agency conclusion.
- Practise presenting one complex insight as a clear commercial choice with caveats.
Common mistakes
- Describing research methods without showing the decision they informed.
- Treating what consumers say as a complete explanation of what they do.
- Hiding uncertainty or sample weaknesses to make a stronger presentation.
- Presenting extensive findings without a clear implication or recommended choice.
