About the role
This interview tests how you turn shopper, retailer and commercial evidence into growth choices for a food and beverage category. The panel is looking for sound judgement on assortment, price, pack and promotion, plus the ability to align teams that have competing priorities.
How to prepare
- Prepare a category review that shows the data, recommendation, stakeholder debate and commercial result.
- Practise explaining how value, volume, margin, distribution and rate of sale tell different parts of the story.
- Review how pack sizes and price points can respond when household budgets are under pressure.
- Think through a promotion that produced poor incremental sales and what you changed afterwards.
- Prepare an example of influencing a retailer or internal team without direct authority.
Common mistakes
- Treating revenue growth as proof of category health without checking volume, margin and distribution.
- Recommending more products without addressing cannibalisation or supply complexity.
- Describing retailer requests as instructions instead of showing commercial negotiation.
