About the role
A community mobiliser connects a programme with the people it serves. You introduce the project to communities, work with local leaders, organise meetings, run sensitisation activities and bring back feedback. The interviewer is deciding whether people will trust you and whether you can get them involved.
How to prepare
- Think of a time you brought people together for a meeting or event and what made it work.
- Be ready to explain how you would enter a new community and who you would meet first.
- Practise explaining a simple idea in the local languages you speak, if the role needs them.
- Prepare an answer about how you handle a community that is suspicious of the project.
- Think about how you record feedback so the programme team can act on it.
Common mistakes
- Promising communities things the programme cannot deliver.
- Talking down to community members instead of showing respect for local knowledge.
- Giving no real example of organising people.
