About the role
A community manager grows and looks after a group of users, members or fans online and at events. You plan content and conversations, moderate fairly, run meetups and pass what members say back to the product team. The panel wants to know you can build real engagement and keep the space safe and useful.
How to prepare
- Bring the story of one community you grew, with where it started, what you did and where it ended up.
- Join the company's existing groups and channels and note what is working and what feels quiet.
- Have a clear view on moderation, including how you handle a member who keeps breaking the rules.
- Think of a time member feedback changed a product or service decision, and how you got it heard.
- Know how you measure engagement beyond member count, such as active members and repeat attendance.
Common mistakes
- Treating community work as posting on social media with no plan for two way conversation.
- Boasting about member numbers when most of those members never take part.
- Having no answer for a heated public argument or a complaint that spreads.
