About the role
This interview tests how you buy and sell physical agricultural commodities while protecting margin and completing contracts. The panel is looking for sound market judgement, firm risk controls, knowledge of quality and logistics, and evidence that you can lead traders without losing visibility of exposure.
How to prepare
- Choose a completed agricultural commodity trade and map the commercial thesis, costs, risks and outcome.
- Revise how you monitor price, currency, counterparty, quality and delivery exposure.
- Practise explaining how storage losses, transport delays and quality deductions affect a trade.
- Prepare an example of renegotiating terms when a supplier or buyer could not perform.
- Review how you set position limits, approve exceptions and report trading performance.
Common mistakes
- Talking only about price forecasts and ignoring execution, quality and cash flow.
- Claiming profitable trades without explaining the risks and full cost base.
- Treating informal supplier relationships as a substitute for contracts and controls.
- Describing losses as bad luck instead of showing what you learnt and changed.
