About the role
This interview tests accurate and fair analysis of health insurance claims. The panel wants evidence that you can apply benefit rules, interrogate provider bills, spot unusual patterns, protect confidential information and resolve disputes without losing sight of the member's care experience.
How to prepare
- Review a clear sequence for checking eligibility, benefits, authorisation, coding and supporting notes.
- Prepare an example where data helped you find duplicate, incorrect or unusual billing.
- Think through how you would query a provider without accusing them of misconduct.
- Practise explaining a benefit decision to a member in plain and considerate language.
- Revise how you restrict, share and retain confidential claims information.
Common mistakes
- Rejecting a claim from a code alone without reviewing the supporting evidence.
- Describing unusual utilisation as fraud before completing proportionate checks.
- Sharing unnecessary member information during a query or escalation.
- Giving a decision without a clear explanation of the relevant benefit.
