About this interview
A Canada employer-specific work permit interview can test whether the job offer is genuine and whether you are qualified for the stated work. The officer may also compare your answers with the application and assess whether you understand the conditions attached to the requested permit.
How to prepare
- Review the job duties, workplace, employment terms and how you were recruited.
- Match your experience and qualifications to the main duties using specific examples.
- Check that dates, role details and employer information agree across your application records.
- Plan how you will manage accommodation, travel and initial expenses after arrival.
- Check the official Canadian immigration site for current work permit requirements and conditions.
Common mistakes
- Being unable to describe the duties or employment terms in your own words.
- Giving an account of recruitment that conflicts with the supporting records.
- Claiming skills or experience that your CV and certificates do not support.
- Assuming the permit allows any job without checking its official conditions.
