About the role
A BIM modeller produces and maintains coordinated building information models from which teams create drawings and schedules. The interview focuses on your Revit workflow, model accuracy, awareness of other disciplines and judgement when instructions or model information conflict.
How to prepare
- Review how you create levels, grids, worksets, families, views, sheets and schedules in Revit.
- Prepare one model example and explain its structure, your scope and the outputs produced from it.
- Revise a simple clash workflow from identification through assignment, resolution and verification.
- Think of checks that keep model warnings, duplicate content and inconsistent naming under control.
- Practise explaining how you avoid overwriting another person's work in a shared model.
Common mistakes
- Describing Revit as only a tool for producing three-dimensional images.
- Resolving a clash by moving an element without consulting the responsible discipline.
- Ignoring model warnings, naming standards or revision records.
- Claiming ownership of a whole model when you worked on only one part.
