About the role

This interview tests how you discover artists, guide repertoire and turn creative promise into a sustainable release plan. The panel is looking for informed taste, commercial judgement, disciplined budget choices and the ability to earn trust in sensitive creative relationships.

How to prepare

  1. Choose two artist development decisions you can explain from discovery through release.
  2. Prepare an example where you challenged a creative choice without taking control away from the artist.
  3. Review how you use audience, streaming and live-performance signals without treating any one measure as proof.
  4. Practise explaining how you would prioritise a recording budget when the strongest material is not yet finished.
  5. Think through how you maintain relationships with artists, producers, managers and release teams during disagreement.

Common mistakes

  • Treating follower counts as a substitute for artistic and commercial judgement.
  • Talking about creative instinct without explaining the evidence behind a decision.
  • Claiming sole credit for work completed by artists, producers and release teams.
  • Ignoring budgets, rights or delivery constraints when discussing repertoire.
