About the award
This scholarship identifies undergraduates who show promise for research, even if they have not yet completed a formal research project. The panel wants to hear how you form questions, judge evidence, recognise limitations and respond to academic guidance.
How to prepare
- Narrow one research interest into a question that could be investigated with realistic resources.
- Review a strong assignment or small investigation and identify what you would now improve.
- Practise explaining why a method fits a question and what its limitations would be.
- Prepare an example of changing your view after examining better evidence.
- Check the official scholarship information for current eligibility and supporting evidence.
Common mistakes
- Proposing a topic so broad that you cannot describe a workable study.
- Treating confidence as a substitute for evidence.
- Claiming that a method has no limitations.
- Presenting another person's research contribution as your own.
