About the role
This interview covers the point where brand strategy, sales execution and shopper behaviour meet. The panel is looking for a manager who can design channel-specific activations, equip field teams to execute them and prove whether trade investment created profitable incremental sales.
How to prepare
- Prepare an activation example that starts with a shopper or channel problem rather than a creative idea.
- Review how you calculate promotion economics and distinguish incremental sales from stock loading.
- Compare the execution needs of traditional trade, modern trade and wholesale channels.
- Choose an example of resolving disagreement between sales and brand teams.
- Be ready to describe how you audit visibility, availability and retailer compliance.
Common mistakes
- Calling an activation successful because materials reached stores.
- Using the same promotion mechanic across channels without testing shopper behaviour.
- Ignoring retailer economics and the workload placed on sales teams.
- Reporting shipment uplift without checking sell-through, margin or stock after the event.
