About the audition
This personal interview gives judges a fuller picture of a teen contestant before the public rounds. They are looking for honest self-expression, calm communication, sound judgement, meaningful involvement in school or community life and a realistic understanding of the title's responsibilities.
How to prepare
- Choose a few real examples from school, clubs, volunteering or family responsibilities that show what matters to you.
- Practise answering in your own words instead of memorising a speech.
- Learn what the pageant title holder is expected to do and consider how those duties fit your routine.
- Prepare a simple idea for contributing to your school or community.
- Ask a trusted adult to practise unexpected but fair questions with you.
Common mistakes
- Repeating polished slogans without giving a personal example.
- Trying to sound older instead of speaking naturally and clearly.
- Giving an answer you think judges want when it does not reflect your real views.
- Promising more pageant work than your schedule can support.
