About the role
This interview explores your ability to produce bespoke menswear that fits well, looks balanced and is finished neatly. The interviewer will also assess how you guide clients, control alterations and plan several garments around fixed fitting and collection dates.
How to prepare
- Review your sequence for measuring, drafting or adapting a pattern, cutting, assembling and fitting menswear.
- Prepare examples of difficult posture or fit issues you corrected.
- Revise the construction details you use for jackets, trousers, waistcoats and traditional menswear.
- Think of a time you advised a client against an unsuitable fit, fabric or detail.
- Prepare to explain how you check a garment before the client collects it.
Common mistakes
- Relying on standard measurements without accounting for posture and ease.
- Promising a collection date before allowing time for fittings and corrections.
- Hiding a construction problem instead of explaining how you would correct it.
- Focusing on the outside appearance while neglecting internal finishing.
