About the award
A student excellence award interview helps a school or organisation choose a student who stands out across academics, leadership, service and character. The panel wants to hear how you have grown, what drives you, how you have helped others and how clearly you can talk about your own journey.
How to prepare
- Pick three achievements across studies, leadership and service and know the story behind each.
- Think about a challenge that changed you and what you do differently because of it.
- Practise speaking about yourself with confidence but without boasting.
- Be ready to say what you will do next and how the award fits into it.
Common mistakes
- Listing achievements without explaining what you learned or why they matter.
- Being so modest that the panel cannot see what you did.
- Giving rehearsed answers that sound the same as every other candidate.
