About the role
This interview focuses on services that cross apps, support teams, operations, partners and regulated processes. The panel wants to see rigorous research, clear service blueprints and the ability to improve backstage systems as well as customer-facing screens. Your portfolio discussion should show how evidence led to decisions and how you worked within real operational constraints.
How to prepare
- Select portfolio work that shows research, synthesis, blueprinting, prototyping and measurable service change.
- Practise explaining the difference between a customer journey map and a service blueprint.
- Map a financial service failure across customer, agent, support, operations and partner touchpoints.
- Prepare an example of influencing teams when no single function owned the whole service.
- Review how trust, accessibility, data protection and fraud controls shape service design choices.
Common mistakes
- Presenting polished maps without explaining the evidence or decisions behind them.
- Focusing only on the digital interface while ignoring staff, partners and operational systems.
- Claiming the team's work without separating your own contribution.
- Proposing an ideal service without showing how it could be tested or operated.
