About the role
This is a portfolio leadership interview rather than a test of one audit file. The panel wants to see how you control quality and commercial risk across engagements, earn the confidence of boards and create a pipeline of capable managers without compromising independence.
How to prepare
- Map the engagements you manage by risk, team size and your personal accountability.
- Prepare a client acceptance or continuance decision where commercial pressure did not determine the answer.
- Think through how you forecast capacity and resolve clashes between major reporting deadlines.
- Choose an example of a trusted client relationship that still included robust challenge.
- Prepare evidence of how you developed managers and planned succession across your portfolio.
Common mistakes
- Answering every question as if you were still managing a single engagement.
- Talking about revenue growth without addressing independence, acceptance and quality risk.
- Presenting staff turnover or poor delivery as solely the manager's problem.
- Using broad leadership claims without a decision, action and measurable outcome.
