About the role
This interview examines how you develop a womenswear collection from concept through fit and production. The panel is looking for a distinct point of view, strong garment knowledge and commercial judgement. They also want to see how you guide other creative and technical specialists.
How to prepare
- Select portfolio projects that show research, development, fittings and finished garments.
- Prepare to explain how a target customer and price position shaped one collection.
- Review examples where you corrected a difficult fit or construction problem.
- Think through how you edit a range when time, fabric or production capacity is limited.
- Prepare an example of directing junior designers and technical colleagues through disagreement.
Common mistakes
- Describing inspiration without explaining the customer or commercial purpose.
- Showing finished looks but no evidence of development, fitting or problem solving.
- Treating production constraints as someone else's responsibility.
- Giving vague answers about fabric behaviour and garment construction.
