About the role

This interview tests whether you can lead corporate and commercial matters with limited supervision. The panel is looking for accurate company law analysis, strong drafting, measured negotiation and the judgement to turn risks into clear options for a client.

How to prepare

Choose two transactions you led and map your role from instruction through due diligence, negotiation and completion.
Refresh the company law, approval and filing issues that commonly affect acquisitions, investments and reorganisations in Nigeria.
Practise explaining how warranties, indemnities, limitations of liability and conditions precedent allocate risk.
Prepare an example of changing your advice after new commercial or due diligence information emerged.
Think through how you review junior work without taking ownership away from the junior lawyer.

Common mistakes

Reciting company law without connecting it to the client's decision.
Claiming sole credit for a transaction without separating your contribution from the team's work.
Discussing deal details that should remain confidential.
Focusing on drafting points while missing completion mechanics and regulatory dependencies.
