About this interview
This interview is used to select graduates who may rotate through branches, operations and customer-facing teams. The panel wants sound judgement, an understanding of how retail banks earn trust and revenue, respect for controls, and the ability to learn across different assignments.
How to prepare
- Review the basic purposes of current accounts, savings, loans, cards and digital banking services.
- Prepare examples of helping a customer, working accurately and learning an unfamiliar task.
- Practise balancing a sales opportunity with affordability, suitability and customer protection.
- Think through how branch service can work during network problems or periods of heavy demand.
- Be ready to explain why retail banking interests you and what you hope to learn on rotations.
Common mistakes
- Treating every customer conversation as a chance to sell regardless of suitability.
- Suggesting that targets justify bypassing verification or approval controls.
- Describing banking only as cash handling and ignoring digital channels and service quality.
