About the role
A research intern helps a development team find, assess and communicate evidence. The panel wants to understand how you frame questions, judge sources, work with data and write conclusions that are useful without claiming more than the evidence supports.
How to prepare
- Choose one research project and be ready to explain its question, method, finding and limitation.
- Review the difference between qualitative and quantitative methods and when each is useful.
- Practise assessing a source by its author, method, sample, date and purpose.
- Prepare to explain how you organise references and research notes.
- Read a development brief and identify which claims are evidence and which are interpretation.
Common mistakes
- Describing a broad topic without stating a researchable question.
- Treating every published source as equally reliable.
- Presenting correlation or a small sample as proof of a general conclusion.
