About the role
This is an executive construction interview about owning the whole project outcome, not managing a single workstream. The panel will look for strategic control, commercial grip, credible risk judgement and evidence that you can lead senior teams and difficult stakeholder conversations without hiding bad news.
How to prepare
- Select a complex project and explain its delivery model, major risks, governance and your personal decisions.
- Prepare an example where forecast cost or margin moved adversely and describe the corrective action you led.
- Review how you distinguish a credible recovery programme from one built on unsupported assumptions.
- Think through how you report serious uncertainty to a client, board or investment group.
- Prepare an example of changing senior accountabilities while keeping delivery stable.
Common mistakes
- Staying at the level of site activity instead of explaining executive choices and controls.
- Using confident forecasts without testing assumptions, interfaces and remaining risk.
- Treating commercial recovery as a claims exercise while operational causes continue.
- Blaming weak team members without explaining how responsibilities, support and oversight were changed.
