About the role
A produce logistics assistant helps move perishable crops from farms or collection points to stores, processors and buyers. The interview focuses on loading, route coordination, cold chain awareness, traceability and quick communication when plans change. The panel wants someone who protects both product quality and the accuracy of each handover.
How to prepare
- Review how maturity, temperature, ventilation, stacking and handling affect fresh produce in transit.
- Practise building a delivery sequence from collection times, vehicle capacity, distance and receiving windows.
- Revise the information needed on dispatch, temperature, quantity, rejection and proof-of-delivery records.
- Prepare an example of coordinating people when a plan changed unexpectedly.
- Think through responses to vehicle breakdowns, traffic delays and rejected or damaged produce.
Common mistakes
- Planning routes by distance alone without considering perishability and receiving windows.
- Loading incompatible, dirty or damaged crates without raising the concern.
- Waiting until arrival time to tell the receiving point about a serious delay.
- Recording delivered quantities without noting temperature, condition, returns or rejections.
