About the award
This scholarship interview explores the thinking, craft and development visible in your creative practice. The panel wants a coherent portfolio, honest critical reflection and a clear reason why postgraduate study is the right next step for your work and contribution.
How to prepare
- Review the official scholarship site for current portfolio rules, eligibility, required documents and dates.
- Select portfolio works that show development and be ready to explain why each piece belongs.
- Research the programme's teaching approach, facilities and critical community in relation to your practice.
- Prepare to discuss an experiment or unsuccessful work and what changed because of it.
- Plan how you will make the work accessible to audiences or contribute to a creative community.
Common mistakes
- Describing only what a piece looks like instead of explaining the artistic decisions behind it.
- Including unrelated portfolio pieces without a clear reason for their selection.
- Treating criticism as a threat instead of showing how it informed your work.
- Giving a vague reason for study that could apply to any creative programme.
