About the role

A policy administration officer turns approved insurance instructions into accurate policy records and documents. The interview tests how you control issuance, endorsements and renewals, reconcile premiums and keep customers and internal teams informed when information is incomplete.

How to prepare

  1. Review the documents and approvals needed to issue, amend, renew or cancel a policy.
  2. Practise checking names, insured interests, dates, limits, premiums, clauses and payment details against source records.
  3. Prepare an example of managing a busy processing queue without sacrificing accuracy.
  4. Think through how you investigate a discrepancy between policy and finance systems.
  5. Identify a recurring administration error you have reduced through a checklist, validation or clearer hand-off.

Common mistakes

  • Issuing from an email request before confirming approval and consistent source details.
  • Treating speed as more important than the accuracy of cover, dates and premiums.
  • Correcting the policy system without checking whether finance and customer documents also need updates.
  • Describing data entry alone without showing ownership of exceptions and service communication.
