About the role
This interview tests whether you can lead a food plant as one operating system rather than a collection of departments. The panel will look for safe output, strong food safety discipline, credible cost control and evidence that supervisors can sustain standards without constant intervention.
How to prepare
- Map a typical daily management routine from shift handover through performance review and escalation.
- Prepare an example where you improved yield, throughput or schedule attainment without weakening safety or quality.
- Review how you would contain a food safety deviation, preserve traceability and authorise a safe restart.
- Be ready to explain how you separate labour, material, energy and downtime losses in plant results.
- Choose an example of coaching supervisors through a difficult change in operating discipline.
Common mistakes
- Treating output as the only result and giving little attention to food safety, people or asset condition.
- Claiming plant improvements without separating your decisions from wider market or volume changes.
- Relying on daily firefighting instead of describing standard work, escalation and loss elimination.
