About the programme
A part-time MBA interview tests whether you have a clear reason to study while remaining in employment. The panel wants to see that you can sustain the workload, apply classroom learning responsibly at work and contribute current professional experience without treating the programme as secondary to your job.
How to prepare
- Build a realistic weekly schedule that includes classes, independent study, group work and busy periods at work.
- Identify workplace decisions where broader knowledge of finance, strategy or operations would have helped you.
- Prepare evidence of increasing responsibility rather than relying only on job titles.
- Discuss the time commitment with people affected by your schedule and plan how you will handle predictable clashes.
- Clarify the role or scope you hope to move towards while you remain employed.
Common mistakes
- Assuming evenings or weekends will always remain free without testing that assumption against your workload.
- Presenting employer support as a substitute for your own commitment and planning.
- Giving confidential workplace details when a generalised example would make the same point.
- Treating classmates only as contacts rather than people you will learn with and support.
