About the role
This interview focuses on enabling people to take part in everyday activities after illness, injury or disability. The panel will look for functional reasoning, collaborative goals, safe discharge planning and recommendations grounded in what matters to the individual.
How to prepare
- Practise explaining how you assess daily activities, cognition, environment and support together.
- Prepare a case where you graded an activity or adapted an environment to improve participation.
- Review how you identify and communicate risks during discharge planning.
- Think through how you handle disagreement about goals within a family or clinical team.
- Check the official professional body for current registration requirements and professional standards relevant to the post.
Common mistakes
- Discussing impairments without connecting them to meaningful daily activities.
- Setting goals for the person instead of agreeing goals with them.
- Recommending equipment without considering the home, support or follow-up.
- Giving an opinion about safety without functional evidence.
