About the role

This internship introduces you to the practical work behind programme monitoring and evaluation. The interviewer is looking for sound basic concepts, careful handling of data, confidence with spreadsheets and a willingness to learn from close supervision.

How to prepare

  1. Review outputs, outcomes, indicators, baselines and targets using a simple programme example.
  2. Practise sorting, filtering, counting and creating a pivot table in a spreadsheet.
  3. Prepare a clear example of collecting data for a course, survey or volunteer activity.
  4. Think about how consent and confidentiality affect data collection.
  5. Review how you check your work before submitting it.

Common mistakes

  • Confusing the number of activities completed with the change a programme aims to create.
  • Guessing a missing response instead of documenting and escalating the issue.
  • Claiming advanced analysis skills that you cannot explain with a simple example.
