About the role
This interview tests whether you can provide accurate, traceable spatial information in an active mine. The panel will look for disciplined control checks, practical field judgement, sound volume calculations and clear coordination with production, geology and safety teams.
How to prepare
- Revise traverse closure, levelling checks, coordinate transformations and how you diagnose inconsistent observations.
- Prepare an example of measuring a face, excavation or stockpile from field capture through to the final quantity.
- Review how you manage control points, survey files, drawing revisions and data backups.
- Practise explaining survey uncertainty and its operational consequence to a non-surveyor.
- Prepare a situation where you stopped, delayed or redesigned field work because conditions were unsafe.
Common mistakes
- Giving a result without explaining the checks, tolerance or coordinate reference behind it.
- Treating production urgency as a reason to enter an area without safe access.
- Describing software commands while missing the underlying survey method.
- Failing to distinguish measured data from assumptions or interpolated surfaces.
