About the role
This is a leadership interview about building mine plans that can be executed safely and economically. The panel will test how you integrate technical constraints, manage schedule trade-offs, respond to variance and lead planners while maintaining an independent technical view.
How to prepare
- Review an example where fleet, geotechnical or processing constraints changed your schedule.
- Prepare to explain how you connect long-term plans with monthly and weekly execution.
- Revise the measures you use to reconcile planned and actual mining performance.
- Think through how cut-off, sequencing and stockpiling decisions affect value and risk.
- Prepare an example of developing a planner or improving planning discipline.
Common mistakes
- Presenting an unconstrained schedule that ignores equipment, access or processing capacity.
- Focusing on production volume without discussing value, cost and operational risk.
- Blaming operations for variance without testing assumptions in the plan.
- Overlooking how planning standards, reviews and coaching affect schedule quality.
