About the role
This interview covers the junior legal work behind a property sale, lease or title review in Nigeria. The panel wants to see that you check documents rather than make assumptions, understand the stages of a conveyancing matter and can explain risks calmly to clients and colleagues.
How to prepare
- Revise the purpose of deeds, survey plans, searches, completion documents and title perfection in a property transaction.
- Practise building a due diligence checklist from a short set of property facts.
- Review the key terms in a sale agreement and a commercial tenancy agreement.
- Prepare an example that shows how you followed up on missing information without losing track of a deadline.
- Check official sources for the current land registration and consent rules relevant to the location of the role.
Common mistakes
- Assuming possession or a single document proves good title.
- Reciting conveyancing stages without applying them to the facts in the question.
- Promising that a search or registration will produce a particular result.
- Ignoring mismatched names, boundaries, dates or descriptions in the documents.
