About the role

This interview tests how you identify barriers to learning and turn evidence into practical support. The panel will look for targeted teaching, constructive work with classroom colleagues and sensitive communication with families. Safeguarding and confidentiality should run through your answers.

How to prepare

  1. Review an intervention you planned, monitored and adjusted for a learner.
  2. Prepare examples of adapting tasks while keeping the original learning goal.
  3. Practise explaining assessment evidence to a parent in plain language.
  4. Revise the safeguarding and referral procedures used in education settings.

Common mistakes

  • Describing support as simply giving a learner easier work.
  • Relying on a label instead of explaining the learner's observed needs.
  • Discussing pupil information without showing care for confidentiality.
