About the role
This interview tests your ability to lead health, safety and environmental performance on active construction sites. The panel is looking for practical control of high-risk work, credible assurance, disciplined incident learning and the influence to make line managers own safety decisions.
How to prepare
- Review how you assess and control work at height, lifting, excavation, temporary electrics and energy isolation.
- Prepare an incident example that shows evidence gathering, underlying causes and verified corrective action.
- Think through how you assure subcontractors beyond collecting their documents at mobilisation.
- Choose an occasion when you challenged a production decision and explain how safe work resumed.
- Be ready to discuss how environmental controls are built into site planning and inspections.
Common mistakes
- Measuring safety only by injury counts or completed paperwork.
- Blaming an injured person without examining planning, supervision and workplace conditions.
- Listing protective equipment before considering elimination and stronger controls.
- Acting as the sole owner of safety instead of holding operational leaders accountable.
