About the role
This interview tests how you advise crews and supervisors in a high-hazard offshore setting. The panel wants evidence that you can verify permits and controls, respond to changing conditions, support emergency readiness and stop unsafe work without losing the crew's trust.
How to prepare
- Review the controls for lifting, hot work, confined spaces and simultaneous operations offshore.
- Prepare an example of a job you paused because site conditions had changed.
- Practise explaining your actions during a gas alarm, evacuation or medical emergency.
- Think through how you verify isolations and permit conditions at the worksite.
- Prepare an example of influencing an experienced supervisor who disagreed with you.
Common mistakes
- Reciting permit steps without checking what is actually happening at the worksite.
- Treating every disagreement as misconduct instead of first understanding the operational pressure.
- Describing emergency actions without stating who you would notify or how you would account for people.
