About the role
This executive interview examines how you lead both an investment function and an asset management business. The panel will look for a clear investment philosophy, strong fiduciary judgement, credible product choices and a culture in which performance, risk and client outcomes are discussed honestly.
How to prepare
- Define your investment philosophy and explain how it appears in research, portfolio construction and sell decisions.
- Prepare a case where you changed a product, mandate or investment process to improve client outcomes.
- Review how you would govern liquidity, valuation, concentration and conflicts of interest across funds.
- Think through how you balance business growth with investment capacity and suitability.
- Prepare examples of developing senior investors and handling a high performer who weakened the culture.
Common mistakes
- Presenting asset growth as the main measure of success while neglecting client outcomes.
- Offering an investment philosophy that is too broad to guide real decisions.
- Treating risk controls as the sole responsibility of a separate oversight team.
- Avoiding direct discussion of weak performance, redemptions or product closure.
