About the role
A graduate trainee programme hires recent graduates and trains them through structured rotations, classes and real work. The panel is not expecting deep experience. It is deciding whether you are motivated, learn fast, work well with others and think through problems in a clear and organised way.
How to prepare
- Research the company, its products and the trainee programme so you can explain why you chose it.
- Prepare examples from university, NYSC, internships or volunteering that show teamwork and initiative.
- Practise breaking a problem into steps and explaining your thinking as you go.
- Think of something you learnt quickly and how you went about it.
- Be ready to talk about where you want the programme to take you in a few years.
Common mistakes
- Relying on your grades alone without showing how you work with people.
- Giving a general answer about the company that would fit any employer.
- Rushing to an answer on a problem instead of showing how you think.
