About the role
This interview covers fraud risk across cards, transfers and wallets. You will need to show how you detect changing attack patterns, choose controls, lead incidents and measure the effect on genuine customers. The panel is looking for calm judgement, analytical depth and strong coordination with product, engineering, operations and external partners.
How to prepare
- Map common payment fraud journeys from account compromise or stolen credentials through attempted cash-out.
- Prepare an example of a rule or model change and explain both its fraud benefit and customer cost.
- Practise describing an incident response from initial signal through containment, investigation and lessons learned.
- Review how false positives, payment acceptance, recovery and investigator capacity shape control choices.
- Think through how you would challenge a vendor or processing partner when evidence is incomplete.
Common mistakes
- Proposing blanket blocks without considering genuine customers or alternative controls.
- Focusing only on losses while ignoring attempts, detection delay and operational workload.
- Changing production rules during an incident without clear ownership and monitoring.
- Blaming customers or partners before testing competing explanations.
