About the role
This interview tests how you investigate crop problems and turn field evidence into useful advice for row crop production. The panel will look for disciplined scouting, sensible use of soil and crop data, safe recommendations and credibility with growers.
How to prepare
- Revise how crop stage, field patterns and recent weather help narrow down likely causes of poor growth.
- Prepare an example of a recommendation you changed after receiving new field or laboratory evidence.
- Review how you would lay out a simple field comparison and record observations consistently.
- Practise explaining a technical recommendation to a grower with limited time and resources.
- Think through how you document field visits, actions and follow-up results.
Common mistakes
- Naming a treatment before establishing the most likely cause.
- Giving recommendations without considering crop stage, weather, safety or farm constraints.
- Claiming that a field comparison proves more than its design and records support.
- Using technical language without explaining what the grower should do next.
