About the role

This interview tests how you turn incomplete field evidence into sensible exploration decisions. The panel will look for sound geological reasoning, disciplined sampling, useful drilling choices and honest treatment of uncertainty. Expect to explain both your technical work and how you operate safely in remote areas.

How to prepare

  1. Review how you integrate mapping, geochemistry, geophysics and remote sensing when ranking targets.
  2. Prepare an example of a target or geological interpretation that changed as new data arrived.
  3. Revise sampling quality control, chain of custody and the handling of failed blanks, standards and duplicates.
  4. Practise explaining a geological model and its main uncertainties to a mixed technical panel.
  5. Think through field hazards, access, communications and contingency planning for a remote programme.

Common mistakes

  • Treating one strong anomaly as proof of an economic deposit.
  • Describing sampling without controls for contamination, bias or traceability.
  • Hiding uncertainty instead of stating what evidence would test the interpretation.
  • Focusing on geology while overlooking field safety and access constraints.
