About the programme
An engineering undergraduate admission interview helps the panel decide whether you are ready for a demanding course in maths and science and will enjoy solving practical problems. They look at your motivation for engineering, your maths and physics, how you approach a problem and how you work in a team.
How to prepare
- Revise core maths and physics so you can work through a problem calmly.
- Think of something you built, fixed or took apart and what you learnt from it.
- Be ready to explain which branch of engineering interests you and why.
- Practise talking through your thinking as you solve a problem, step by step.
- Prepare an example of working in a team on a project or competition.
Common mistakes
- Choosing engineering for the title without showing interest in how things work.
- Freezing on a problem instead of explaining how you would start.
- Not knowing what the different branches of engineering involve.
