About the role
An electrical technician maintains plant power, motor and control circuits so production equipment operates safely. This interview tests electrical isolation, instrument use and systematic diagnosis of motors, protection devices, sensors and basic PLC interfaces. The panel wants clear safety judgement as much as technical knowledge.
How to prepare
- Revise safe isolation, proving dead and the correct sequence for electrical tests.
- Review motor starters, contactors, overload relays, fuses, breakers and common sensor circuits.
- Practise tracing a fault from a circuit diagram rather than replacing parts by guesswork.
- Prepare an example of using a multimeter safely to confirm a fault.
- Think through how to report an intermittent fault that has not been fully resolved.
Common mistakes
- Resetting protection repeatedly without investigating why it operated.
- Assuming an open isolator proves the circuit is dead without testing.
- Replacing a PLC or sensor before checking power, wiring and the input signal.
