About the role
A customer experience manager improves how customers feel at every point they deal with the company, from sign-up to complaints. You gather customer insight, map journeys, set service standards and drive changes across teams such as product, operations and sales. The panel wants to see that you turn feedback into changes that keep customers longer.
How to prepare
- Prepare a story where customer insight led to a change across teams, with the result in retention or complaints.
- Practise mapping a customer journey for a familiar service and pointing out where it breaks.
- Have the metrics you have owned ready, and explain how you linked them to revenue or churn.
- Think about how you win support from teams that do not report to you.
- Prepare an example of handling a serious service failure and rebuilding customer trust.
Common mistakes
- Focusing on surveys and scores without showing the changes they led to.
- Talking about customer experience as the support team's job alone.
- Proposing big transformation plans with no sense of cost or sequencing.
