About this interview
A consulting case interview gives you a business problem to solve live with the interviewer. You break the problem into parts, work through numbers quickly, use business sense to weigh options and finish with a clear recommendation, talking through your thinking as you go.
How to prepare
- Practise building simple structures for common problems, such as profit, market entry and pricing.
- Drill mental maths with percentages, growth rates and large numbers until it feels quick.
- Do practice cases with a partner and ask for blunt feedback on your structure.
- Learn to summarise your findings in a short recommendation with reasons and next steps.
- Read business news so you have a feel for how companies in Nigeria and abroad make money.
Common mistakes
- Forcing a memorised framework onto a problem it does not fit.
- Doing the maths silently so the interviewer cannot follow your thinking.
- Ending without a firm recommendation.
