About the role
This interview tests how you build trust between a mine and neighbouring communities while representing concerns accurately inside the business. The panel wants inclusive engagement, disciplined grievance handling, calm conflict management and follow-through on commitments without promises you cannot authorise.
How to prepare
- Map the groups who may experience mine activities differently and consider suitable ways to hear each one.
- Prepare a grievance example from receipt and investigation through communication and closure.
- Think through how you would respond to a blockade, tense meeting or damaging rumour without escalating it.
- Review how you record commitments, owners, deadlines and evidence of completion.
- Practise explaining a technical operational change in plain language without hiding uncertainty.
Common mistakes
- Treating traditional or formal leaders as the only voices in a community.
- Promising compensation, jobs or project dates without authority or evidence.
- Recording rumours as facts or omitting views that challenge the mine's position.
- Holding meetings without tracking questions, commitments and unresolved concerns.
