About the role
An arbitration associate supports disputes from the initial jurisdiction and strategy analysis through written submissions, evidence, hearings and enforcement. The panel will test whether you can manage detailed procedure while keeping a clear theory of the case. They also want concise advocacy and calm coordination under fixed deadlines.
How to prepare
- Prepare an arbitration matter you supported and separate your own contribution from the wider team's work.
- Revise jurisdiction, interim relief, evidence, challenges and enforcement at a principle level.
- Practise explaining a case theory in a short structure built around claim, evidence and remedy.
- Review how you prepare witnesses and experts without shaping their evidence improperly.
- Check the official source for any arbitration rules or procedures relevant to the role.
Common mistakes
- Discussing procedure without linking it to case strategy.
- Claiming ownership of advocacy or drafting completed by someone else.
- Giving a confident answer without checking the governing law or agreed rules.
- Describing client or tribunal information that should remain confidential.
