About the role
An aquaculture production officer monitors stock, water, feeding and pond activities from preparation through harvest. The panel is testing whether you can interpret fish behaviour and production records, protect stock health, use feed carefully and coordinate work without losing traceability.
How to prepare
- Revise the water and stock observations that guide routine aquaculture decisions.
- Prepare an example of investigating weak growth, poor feeding response or unexpected losses.
- Review how sampling results inform biomass estimates and feeding decisions.
- Think through the sequence and controls for pond preparation, stocking, grading and harvest.
- Practise explaining how you reconcile feed issues, stock movements and remaining inventory.
Common mistakes
- Changing feed immediately without checking water conditions, stock behaviour and the reliability of the records.
- Using sampling figures as exact counts without explaining assumptions and variation.
- Planning stocking or harvest without considering pond readiness, handling capacity and traceability.
- Focusing on production volume while ignoring feed waste and unexplained stock differences.
