About the role
This interview covers day-to-day control of the airside environment, including movement area inspections, stand coordination, defects and incident response. The panel wants evidence that you notice hazards, understand aircraft movement dependencies and communicate accurately with several teams.
How to prepare
- Review how you inspect runways, taxiways, aprons and stands and how you classify airside findings.
- Prepare an example of coordinating several airport teams during an operational disruption.
- Think through the immediate controls for debris, surface contamination, failed lighting and an unserviceable stand.
- Revise your responsibilities within an airport emergency plan and check the official authority for current local procedures.
- Practise writing a short shift log entry with a location, time, action, owner and outstanding risk.
Common mistakes
- Entering or affecting a movement area without describing the required coordination.
- Reporting a defect without stating its exact location or operational impact.
- Assuming another team owns a hazard before confirming control of it.
- Giving unverified information during an emergency.
