About the role
An accessibility engineer identifies and removes barriers in digital products while helping teams build better interfaces from the start. The interview tests semantic implementation, manual and automated evaluation, prioritisation and the ability to give practical guidance across design and engineering.
How to prepare
- Review semantic HTML, focus management, keyboard interaction, accessible names and form errors.
- Prepare an example where you found a barrier, explained its user impact and guided the fix.
- Practise describing the limits of automated accessibility tools.
- Think through how accessibility checks can fit design reviews, code reviews and delivery pipelines.
Common mistakes
- Treating a clean automated scan as proof that a product is accessible.
- Reciting rules without explaining their effect on a person's task.
- Suggesting a visual patch when the interaction itself needs redesign.
